After early hits in the 1970s - “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Shakin’” and “Think I’m in Love” - substance abuse stalled the rocker's career. ![]() Those who attend Currington’s show Thursday at the Fillmore, at 1000 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, will hear some of those newer songs, most of his hits and possibly covers of Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places” and Hank Williams Jr.’s “Family Tradition.” Among its tracks were “Drinkin’ Town With a Football Problem,” “Give it to Me Straight,” “Nowhere Town,” “Sweet Love” and “Soundtrack.” It sounds like a Beach Boys title, but Currington was evidently hoping for some easier times ahead. While releasing six albums, Currington hit it big with the songs “Don’t It,” “It Don’t Hurt Like it Used To,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” “People are Crazy” and “We are Tonight.” But his last CD “Summer Forever” was issued in 2015.
